HAVE YOUR SAY – What is your Vision of the future of Everton Village?
The Parish Council has begun the process of updating the Neighbourhood Plan. The underlying vision that will lie at the core of the plan is presented here for consultation and discussion. Your comments will help shape the future.
The Vision Statements, along with a detailed Strengths/Weaknesses/ Opportunities/Threats (SWOT) Analysis will be on display in the Village Hall on Wednesday 26th November from 14.00 – 20.00, where members of the Parish Council will be on hand to discuss them.
If you are unable to attend, please send your comments to the clerk (see above).
The Parish Council has prepared a proposal to reduce the speed limit in Everton and Harwell. The presentation is available here. Please have a look at it and make your views known when the petition is available.
The next Parish Council meeting is due to take place on Monday 3rd November 2025, at 7.15pm in the village hall. All are welcome to attend. Agenda details will appear a week before the meeting. Please click on ‘Documents’ in the menu below.

The Parish Council wants to encourage local people to participate in the democratic process. We believe this is enhanced through attending the monthly meetings, and engaging with this website which will publish details of meetings and key issues arising, including the agenda and minutes found in The Documents section of the menu. There are also links to and from the local village facebook site.
– What does your Parish Council do? In much of its work the Council acts as a representative body for the residents of the parish, mainly liaising with Notts County Council on matters such as highway maintenance including public rights of way. Similarly with Bassetlaw District Council on matters such as planning and street cleansing. It is the point of contact on general community matters, and with other local bodies including the police.
The Council utilises HEDS, local notice boards and its dedicated website to keep in touch and share local information. (for more details see menu item Meet The Councillors above)
Do You Have Anything to Report? Is it a County Council matter, or one to address to the District Council? Use the menu to access the Useful Links Page to contact them.
HEDS CHOIR is returning to practise for its Annual Christmas Concert at The Sun Inn on 18th December. See The HEDS Choir Page on the menu for details.
How do you like your HEDS? The digital version is now available on this website. Find it on Digital HEDS above.
November 2025 Update
Bassetlaw District Council will be introducing a new kerbside Glass Recycling Collection Service from 30th March 2026.
Bins will be left outside properties and residents are advised to keep them with their other bins until the first collections begin from 30th March 2026. Residents can choose to start putting glass in their new 180 litre bins as soon as they are delivered. For comparison, the Black Bins are smaller than your Green and Blue Bins which are 240 litre. Collections will begin from 30th March 2026 and will take place every six weeks. More information on delivery days for each area will be made available in the new year. However, you can also continue to recycle glass at our existing Recycling Points across Bassetlaw up to this date.
From the agenda:
Bassetlaw District Councillor Steven Pashley attended the meeting and gave an update on a number of Enforcement Cases. Cllr Pashley continues to work with EPC in ensuring that the Planning Department addresses outstanding issues relating to Enforcement and Compliance. Cllr Pashley shared a Press Release concerning the progress being made by BDC in cutting carbon emissions. “The work of our Climate Change team has not only reduced harmful CO2 emissions but has also helped small businesses reduce costs and helped 117 homeowners lower their energy bills whilst making their properties more comfortable to live in.”
County Councillor Robertson reported on the following: National Rehab Centre – supporting those with acute trauma, redesigning how trauma is dealt with. NCC has made efficiencies within The Pension Fund, and addressed issues relating to Rufford Mill ford. There are to be changes in the use of County Hall following the changes in local governance. He continues to promote traffic management scheme, supporting a number of local villages who wish to see a reduction in speed limits and funding has been secured for road improvements including in Everton where there are also discussions on a Pedestrian Crossing on A631 and new white lines at A631 junctions; Match My Funding scheme offers support to business and community projects which remote “Community Well-being and Social Issues”; planned “Village Walk” with Chair and others to identify local issues where he can give support.
The Annual Christmas Carol Concert at Holy Trinity Church will once again be funded by the Parish Council and we hope many of the villagers will share in the celebrations on 12th December when the Christmas Tree Lights will be switched on by John Dunne.

Dog owners/walkers are asked to be aware of the countryside rules; especially keeping dogs on leads where there is livestock nearby.

War Memorial re-dedication
The completion of repairs to the War Memorial in the cemetery on Mattersey Road is being celebrated by a gathering at the cemetery in the spring of 2026. Please look out for the date here and on the Village Facebook Page. All welcome.
When the new White Letter Box has been erected and the Scheme launched, there will be another dedication event.
Neighbourhood Watch
Where you see something which you think is a police matter (e.g. Trespass and Damage Caused by Motorists/Motorcyclists), please telephone 101 and report the matter.

The Parish Council is seeking to form a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in the village, and is calling uon those volunteers who want to be part of the scheme to contact the Clerk to express an interest.
Village Clean-up

The PC receive a small annual grant from BDC for litter clearing. The Council have in recent years asked a contractor to do a litter pick on the verges and pavements , the worst lengths of our main routes in and out of Everton. If you have concerns about litter problems in the Parish please report these to BDC directly or the Clerk.
Website Updates: Every month, following a council meeting, some of the pages on this site are updated. Please see the asterisked items on the menu. The website will soon be upgraded to comply with regulations for council websites nationally, which will include more inclusive access and a “mobile phone friendly” format. This will involve changes to the site details and contacts. More information to follow.

Everton Parish Council receives occasional notifications from Notts CC about road works that affect our village. Use the button below to find out more.
